LFC Club owner Karen Dobres shares LFC's equality vision as the first football club in the world to offer equal pay to male and female players.
Karen Dobres is a Director at Lewes FC and also a writer and trained counselling therapist, including creating and managing an internal counselling service for PolyGram Records (now Universal). Karen has a unique voice on the Board as she had no interest in football whatsoever before encountering Lewes FC’s equality initiative in 2017. Since then she regularly gives talks at business & sports conferences on equality in football and its effect on driving gender equality in the wider world.

Charlie Dobres co-founded what became the UK’s largest independent Digital Media Agency. Formed in 1998, the company, i-level, grew to a £100m turnover, employing 150 people and had won the Queens Award for Enterprise in Innovation by the time Charlie stepped down in 2007. In 2010, with five others, he turned Lewes FC into a 100% community-owned entity and has been on the Board ever since.

Long time Lewes Football Club supporter Dave Evans explains what's so special about Lewes FC and how he ended up in Lewes.
Dave moved to Lewes from Uckfield in 1987, after his marriage to Mei. Dave was a lawyer then but later became a primary teacher (and eventually a headteacher). 34 years and three fantastic children on, he still lives here. He has followed Lewes FC since about 1990 and it is the perfect antidote to the Premier League. Come On You Rooks!

Peter Hall runs Breaky Bottom in nearby Northease. The vineyard was planted in the 70s and is one of the oldest vineyards in the southeast. Breaky Bottom has won numerous awards and accolades internationally.

A Ghost in Lewes: Wendy Maples
Wendy tells the story of her first Lewes ghost.
Wendy tells the story of her first Lewes ghost.
Wendy has lived in Lewes since 1998, technically a DFL at the time, but formerly of Lindfield, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, where she spent most of her childhood. She has worked in education for most of her adult life. In 2019 she was elected to Lewes Town Council (Priory Ward) and in 2021 to Lewes Division, East Sussex County Council, standing for the Green Party. Her rescue dog, Bonnie, aspires to one day feature in Dogs of Lewes.
